Our best project… ever.

We started this project in June 2024, when we first launched it for crowdfunding. We were met with a flood of excited and passionate support! We were floored. Fast forward to March of 2025, that’s when we were at a point where we had the funding to fully start the project. A good chunk of time, but I wouldn’t give up on this. Nothing could make me let go. Fast forward to April of 2026, we finally got the mastering done. All the settings applied by the genius of Bernie Grundman made the difference between, not only all other pressings & our new master, but also between the DIGITAL master and ours, undeniably perfect. It is like night and day.

King Gizzard broke records with their 2017 lineup of albums. They released five albums in just that year alone. Polygondwanaland was the fourth and most notable release of the bunch. A prog-rock LP that was arguably the most well recorded & mastered Gizz album to exist even today. Especially given how it’s predecessors, Nonagon Infinity & Murder of the Universe are arguably, the worst recorded LPs from their discography. The cherry on top with this outstanding release was the fact that it is public domain. Free. As in free free. This opened up a flood gate of LP reissues, CD reissues & Tapes to be released by independent labels and fans alike. 272 of these releases (as of 4/29/2026) are vinyl releases. So to reissue it is very, bold, to say the least. Funny enough only 4 of these were standalone 45 rpm presses. So we decided to expand on that.

While staying behind on a Wax Wizard rehearsal, I talked to my friend & fellow gizz-head, Joaquin, on what I should do to start my label. I needed a project that I could have easy access to that had a fanbase, and at the same time, benefit from an audiophile cut & press. He told me to press Polygondwanaland. Boom, no brainer. I drafted ideas onto a page for a Tri Split with a Center. However, we eventually had to veto that idea upon learning there isn’t a single plant (to our knowledge) that has more than three extruders (4 would be needed). Shifting the idea to a tri split with that lime green splatter with the second disc being a triple smash with splatter. But what would separate it from the other 45 rpm press? Bernie Grundman. It was far fetched and hard to talk myself into. I mean aiming as high as high can go. A legend who worked on Thriller, Aja, The Chronic, DAMN., To Pimp A Butterfly, etc. Working on my FIRST PROJECT. I was crazy but when I got the email back from Chase Goldman, I knew it was the move.

June 25, 2024 - the start

On June 24, 2024, we posted a mockup design to Reddit to see if there was demand for a Bernie Grundman mastered 45 cut of the album, when nearly 30 people immediately commented saying, “Where can I buy it?” So naturally, I decided to build a website in under a day for it. So come the next day, I launch it for it to be met with hundreds of orders within the first day. I mean support was flooding in, it was unbelievable. So we naturally had to start aligning the production. We appointed (originally) Third Man Pressing to press it with plating at Quality Record Pressings. Packaging in a Tip-On Gatefold Jacket and so on and so on. It was beautiful. Then issues came.

JULY 15, 2024 - PAYMENT ISSUES

Come July, we get a notification that our payment provider has suspended our account, indefinitely. I genuinely thought we were done. Thousands of dollars, gone. I had to issue a refund to everyone who ordered and ask if they would want to re-order under a new payment processor. We lost 10% of our orders right there. From there, I had to figure out a way to damage control & still make a profit. So we decided to change things. We brought the quantities down from 300 colored records to 200, and 200 black to 100. We also switched from TMP to Clampdown Record Pressings. This allowed for a bigger profit margin as well as the addition of a new color, Stupid Fancy!! A custom blend of random colors where no two records are the same. In addition, we saw a good profit margin with the idea of spreading out to other plants with the same metal work from the original so we dropped 3 colors with dunk!pressing & 2 more colors with GGR. Totally amounting to 8 total variants. It seemed crazy but we felt it was the best move to control the damage we had.

Now with everything in place we are finally ready to announce the confirmation of the project! That wasn’t so bad was it?

we said as we see the calendar says March 2025

March 21, 2025 - the confirmation

The final confirmation & beginning of production started in March of 2025. nearly 9 months later. Insane. The main thing keeping me going was the knowledge of how Bernie works and how good his work sounds, as well as my passion for this thing man. I can’t professionally say it enough, I needed this to work. I was going to make it work.

Now we had to get this thing mastered. Constant work. Constant back & forth between me & Chase to get this thing where it needed to be. All the way until..

April 28, 2026 - the masters

yup it took that long. When you look at the timeline, you probably are feeling the same frustration both me and the customers felt when they would randomly remember they ordered this record from a random label from nearly 2 years ago that still isn’t finished yet. Where the wait comes from is the context. I am a new label at this time. A label with exactly one press finished entirely. Nobody behind it, just a random kid from Texas. Contacting the best mastering engineer to ever exist (essentially) to master his release. I expected a wait but not as long as it was. My first email confirming the start of the project was sent in July 2025. I got back the reference masters in April 2026. I had to wait behind several labels and customers asking for their record to be cut as well, making that a big factor.

The second factor is Bernie’s time in the studio. January 2025, LA suffered a bunch of forest fires that impacted Bernie’s schedule. Meaning less time spent per project. This was another big factor.

The last big factor was the project’s needs. King Gizz is arguably not the most audiophile band, and so when giving Bernie their most well recorded album, he had a lot of work to do for the best 45 rpm cut to be achieved.

That being said, we got it though, so now the next step is to get the thing cut to lacquer & plated. Be sure to snag your copy to be updated in real time as this thing moves on! Click the button below to hear snippets of the master!!
